Surveillance Video Of Kenneka Jenkins
This is Kenneka Jenkins for about 59 seconds on the surveillance video at the Rosemont Hotel. The video is not a complete video. I don’t understand why there is no video of the refrigeration area of the kitchen. In the hospitality industry there are certain items under constant surveillance. Profit Centers. Areas like the freezers, petty cash, the servers, all are under the eyes of the camera. Where is that view. Until that shot is shown, there will be speculation. Rest in Peace Kenneka Jenkins.
A Message to the Black Man
This is to the Black Man. Too often there is one group here in these United States of America that have the American dream, yet on a daily basis, the odds, the full weight of society is placed on their back. When things are bad in an area, guess who is the first to catch a blame? When things go good who is the last to be acknowledged, if at all?
The jobless rate for the Black Man is a disgrace. I personally believe that their is one way to beat that problem. Entrepreneurship is the American Dream.
The American Dream to the Black Man
As a Black Man in America, that knows what the American dream is, and it’s not about owning a home, building a legacy for his children. When he comes home, of course he has his rock there. There’s something that can be said about going to face something that has been designed to set you back. But we do it.
This is a shout out to my brothers. You can do it. Keep your head up. Keep building. Love your wife. Love your kids.
I love you and I’m proud of you.
In Norse mythology, a valkyrie is one of a host of female figures who choose those who may die in battle and those who may live.
An investigation by the Associated Press revealed that “a disproportionate share” of $4.2 billion in Pentagon property handed out by the Defense Department military surplus program since 1990 was “obtained by police and sheriff’s departments in rural areas with few officers and little crime.” This all happened under the Obama Administration.
The police, at this point in time, appear to be in a war with America.
“It’s armored. It’s heavy. It’s intimidating. And it’s free,” Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple — the head of one of five New York county sheriff’s departments to receive last year’s shipments — told the Daily News at the time.
Then in January 2014, the Wall Street Journal reported that the Pentagon has roughly 13,000 mine-resistant, ambush-protected trucks to part with “because they have outlived their original purpose.”
“We’ve notified our friends and allies that we have MRAPs available and if they want them they can have them,” Alan Estevez, deputy undersecretary of defense for acquisitions, technology and logistics, told the Journal.
He now works for Deloitte Consulting LLP’s federal practice as a national security strategy and logistics executive.
Folks don’t hate police. We, and simply a bunch of others want police to break that “thin blue line”. That’s it. Admit that at least one person you work with, “just sucks at his job.” You are not a military occupying force. Police are citizens. Just like everyone else. Not military. Citizens, just like you and me. They’ve taken an oath to be good citizens, that we trust to do a job. No more. No less. Like me, Darrin Marion. And you. Darrin’s friends.
Sir Robert Peel, the father of modern policing said “The police are citizens and the citizens are police”.
“The problem is that the atmosphere does not yet exist in which an honest police officer can act without fear of ridicule or reprisal from fellow officers. We create an atmosphere in which the honest officer fears the dishonest officer, and not the other way around.” – Frank Serpico
A Time to Break the Silence
Martin Luther King did a number of speeches. He’s most importantly remembered for the “I have a dream” speech. Most know nothing of the “ A Time to Break the Silence“, this is by far his greatest of speeches. It is a 2 Part video so that you’re able to take it all in. In the words of Mary J. Poppins, ” Just a spoonful of sugar, helps the medicine go down”. I think I may become a motivational speaker after all.
He gave this speech EXACTLY ONE YEAR TO THE DATE OF HIS DEATH.
We live in A Time to Break the Silence.
“We seldom realize, for example that our most private thoughts and emotions are not actually our own. For we think in terms of languages and images which we did not invent, but which were given to us by our society.”
― Alan W. Watts
Power is a Motivator.
First, song playing is from Shaq’s album. Can’t stop the reign. The significance of this song is that power is about reigning over something. This post is about power.
Mayweather vs. McGregor. A Money Grab
I made this video the night of the fight. Not sure if you saw the fight or not, but here’s my take on the multimillion dollar fight.
R.I.P. Baba Dick Gregory.
Died at the age of 84. I learned to see the world through his eyes a long time ago. Life in itself is so real it’s funny. Had a picture of Dick Gregory on the wall of my shop, and a picture of John Brown. Anyone that is a true fan of Baba Dick, knows the significance.
He predicted that we would go through what we are experiencing now.
I remember listening to one his last radio interviews. He was morose. R.I.P. Baba Dick Gregory.
Right now in Charlottesville, VA the place is erupting. Why? Over the tearing down of the Robert E. Lee Memorial on the University of Virginia’s campus. He is being “misrepresented” by a group of idiots. I can attest to my personal misrepresentation experience by the government of the State of Indiana.
How is Robert E Lee Being Misrepresented?
The definition of the word Misrepresent as given by Webster’s Dictionary is as follows: give a false or misleading account of the nature of. “you are misrepresenting the views of the government”
Synonyms of the word Misrepresent : give a false account, misreport, misquote, quote/take out of context, misinterpret, put a spin on, skew, warp, falsify, distort, misstate, exaggerate.
Those who are fighting to maintain the memories of the Confederate States of America’s war heroes, are actually misrepresenting those men and women. They were not heroes in the slightest. The monuments dedicated to the heroics of the CSA, must be put where they are deserved. As a traitorous people they were willing to not only die for, but to also kill to keep the institution of chattel slavery in place.
The memories of those men are seen in the faces of every descendant of slavery in the United States of America. Let that be the memory of their crimes against humanity. To hell with those that supported our “peculiar institution”. Take the monuments that celebrate men like Robert E. Lee down. Forever.
I think that I could be a fantastic motivational speaker in my hometown of Indianapolis, Indiana. I know that motivational speaking isn’t for everyone and the inspirational speaker needs to have a story that inspires action. I know that after all of the wild experiences I had in college. Yes I went to Grambling State University, what’s a bit different about my college education is that I spent time playing football at Indiana University, yup, I was both a Tiger and a Hoosier (whatever that is!). I think with a little work,, me, Darrin Marion, I’d be one of the best motivational speakers Indianapolis has to offer.
I could be the best college motivational speaker. Ever.
Definitely one of the BEST MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKERS INDIANAPOLIS has to offer. Ever. I’m motivated.
I would be the best college motivational speaker in the State of Indiana. I definitely know that I would be the best motivational and the most inspirational speaker in the Traders Point area. I’m just sayin’. 😉 As a matter of fact I remember being a Red Ribbon Ambassador at Pike High School. I’m a child of a single parent, I had a full ride scholarship from Jackson State University, later, I transferred to Grambling. Moving from Indiana to a place like Jackson State University… Man talk about a culture shock. I had to get out of that place.
A motivational speaker is the kind of person that both asks and tries to provide the answer to a few questions. Whose lives do you want to change as an inspirational public speaker? What are you passionate about? Is there a topic that you can talk about day after day and still be enthusiastic about? What can I talk about as a black man in Indianapolis that is uniquely distinct. Man, I love my Indianapolis community, I think this would be a fantastic decision.
I have a friend that’s an African American male keynote speaker. I have some very strong opinions as a black business owner. We, black businesses, have a difficult time in so many ways. I actually had a conversation with a gentleman today, he told me that I should run for office, I laughed. Then I said, ain’t no way. I love hip hop waay too much. Hahaaha!
What is a keynote speaker?
There is a bit of difference between a keynote speaker and a motivational speaker. Generally a keynote speaker is tasked with giving a speech at a formal event. A keynote speech, sets the overall tone and context for the event. A speech at a graduation, also known as a commencement speech, is as a keynote speech. At Grambling, I am fortunate enough to say that the keynote speaker at my graduation was president Bill Clinton. Fan or not, that is a significant event to occur at a traditionally HBCU.
An inspirational coffee shop story.
I remember when I first opened my shop, Darrin’s Coffee in Zionsville, also known as “The Best Coffee Shop in Indianapolis“, right on Main Street, I didn’t have anything to start my business with except 6lbs of coffee and a popcorn popper. I know if someone wanted to find a motivational keynote speaker they would love to pick up me for all of the wild experiences that I’ve had in my life. I know that I’ve been asked in the past to speak at a Motivational Speakers Indianapolis event. I think. I turned it down. I was kinda nervous. Well, very nervous.
I was told that more than likely I would be the most inspirational speaker in Indianapolis, Indiana. All because of the obstacles that I’ve faced and have managed to overcome. I know that I listened to some of the best motivational speakers I could find on a daily basis. People like Les Brown, Tony Robbins and Jesus. ( I don’t know Jesus’ website, per se, but bible.com is probably a good start.) Yes, I believe that Jesus was probably the best motivational speaker to walk the Earth.
The Indianapolis Speakers bureau. Is that the place to start?
I was looking online for Indianapolis public speakers and I found the Indiana Speakers Bureau. There and Toastmasters International seem to be the best place to start. I was told that to be a great motivational and inspirational speaker, I needed to posses the following skills:
- Always, always, always focus on improving as an inspirational speaker rather than immediate results.
- People want to be inspired by a really great speaker that is good at what they do. There’s only one way to become really great at something is to practice.
- Always continue to learn as much as I can to perfect my craft as a motivational speaker.
- Learn from the greats, and use continuing educational resources, like Toastmasters or the Indianapolis Speakers Bureau.
- Produce something of value. If you think about it, people are paying you to be inspired. Well. You might as well be inspirational, definitely a bit beyond an inspirational quote. Remember your job is to be an inspirational speaker!
So here I come. Indianapolis and Indiana Motivational Speakers. Get Ready, the Best Motivational Speaker in Indiana, with an inspirational motivational story, is coming soon.
Ready (sort of) to speak in Indianapolis, Zionsville, Brownsburg, Avon, Carmel,.. Basically anywhere in Indiana.
